Come
back to
yourself.
In the unplanned journey of extreme parenting,
we take care of the caregivers.
Our retreats are designed to cultivate
a sense of peace, ease, vitality, and courage.
Families Like Ours supports the wellbeing of parents and caregivers of children with unique developmental or medical needs. We offer respite from overwhelming and stressful caregiving roles, while providing opportunities to connect with parents who understand them.

Weekend retreats are respite programs that are intentionally designed to combat the well-documented multi-layered negative effects of caregiver burden on physical and mental health. The therapeutic environment of these retreats has been intentionally tailored to help parents address the various and unique challenges of their extreme parenting journey.

Get to Know Us
We are passionate about helping families despite and because of their unique challenges. We understand that parents, caregivers, providers, and the general public tend to focus on the needs of the child, leaving parents’ experiences to go unrecognized or misunderstood. Founded by Dr. Amanda Leeder, who has spent 20 years serving neurodivergent individuals and their families, the Families Like Ours staff and Board of Directors are committed to improving quality of life for all caregivers and their families.
We believe that families deserve a safe, predictable, and welcoming space that supports connection with families on similar paths.
